Finally!!
Well my last day of work is finally over. Now the nervous excitement is kicking in...Reality is about to shovel me in the face!
Straight away the doubt starts to surface. Do I have enough money? Am I ready to go? Do I WANT to go? Will I have trouble meeting people and making friends?? Everything has been thought and re-thought. At the end of the day, it's nothing but fear getting in the way of things changing....
Change is the most inevitable and natural thing in life, yet no one particularly enjoys it, and it boils down to fear. Fear of the unknown, fear that things might be worse, or make things worse. Fear that things will never be as good as they once were. Fear of failure, rejection, regression, fear of getting out of our comfort zones and doing things. It's easier said than done.
I have been back home now for two years. In that time change has been an almost permanent part of my life.
When I came back from my last trip in NZ I was heartbroken. I was miserable and depressed. I was completely spent, worn out, anti-social, and void of any energy to start again. I was completely unable to let go and move on.
When the fear that you've lost the best thing that has come into your life enters your head, the hopefulness that better things are out there disappears. When that hopefulness goes, you stop trying. When you stop trying, nothing happens. When nothing happens you feel worse and the cycle continues.....
Eventually though I regrouped, made a plan and tried to slowly get stuck into life again. It took a lot longer than I had hoped, but I finally got to where I wanted and needed to be.
Contentment.
I have a lot more self assurance and confidence which before I thought I didn't have.
I have people who I didn't even know existed a few years ago and now I consider them like family. I have relatives and a clique of close mates who I can trust and be myself around and would do anything for. For that reason alone coming back and regrouping was worth it.
Ironically, the very thing I needed when I returned home, is now a roadblock to my development.
For years I saw contentment and comfort zones as a form of stagnation. The easiest way to get into a rut I thought, is to be willing to live in the bubbles we create for ourselves and never push our boundaries.
How can we find out about ourselves if we never test ourselves??
According to my toilet door, you shouldn't confuse comfort with happiness.
I have learnt that contentment and stagnation are poles apart. It is essential to keep that support in place and hold onto those roots, wherever you are. But I think it is also critical to strive to push ourselves, and not be scared to reach out of our comfort zones and pursue our goals.
It's all about balance, and really, that's what life is. Timing and balance.
The last two years have gotten me to where I need to be. But now it's time to explore, find adventure, learn, live and experience what's out there.
But for all those people in my life. Thanks for making my time back so special (even if I did hibernate a lot while I was working)
I love you.
I could not be happier and more excited.
:D

It's Nearly Time
Well not long now. In just over a month I'll be on my way to my next big adventure, namely Canada.
I haven't been getting nervous or over excited yet, as I still need to concentrate on working to get my funds up. Every so often though I like to sit back and relax an let my mind wander to the countless possibilities and adventure that is waiting for me over there.
When I hear this song I'm in awe every listen, even though I've heard it a million times.
This is my travel song, and now I'd like to share it with you :)
Other songs to travel to :
Jackson Jackson : Atlantis
The Cribs : I've Tried Everything
Dido : Sand In My Shoes (What a fox too!)
Footy Players
Off to the gym....
Better wear a BinTang singlet to show off my guns and let everyone know me and the footy boys have been to Bali....

A Letter To Producers Of Australian TV Shows
Dear Australian television industry,
As much as enjoy some of random nuggets of watchable material on the ABC and SBS (mainly documentaries and news programs) I am having an issue with the other 95% of 'entertainment' you are allowing to be programmed to the masses.
Now I understand that the Australian dollar is quite high at the moment (thanks mining industry for taking all our profits offshore) but I beg you, no more shows being shot on location overseas for no reason.
Apart from all being absolute dross, the worst part is all these presenters do the same thing......
PLEASE STOP
We have enough bogan, ignorant, arrogant wankers flying the Aussie flag abroad without you dickheads giving them a big wad of cash to flash around and generally embarrass us all.
Yours sincerely,

- Walk around famous landmarks and places where the masses congregate.
- Approach locals and crap on about Australia and tell them about "how much you guys love our accent"
- Generally just be ignorant, arrogant fucks and bang on about how "one of our dollars could buy half your country lol"

Don't You Just Hate That???
Drinking. Sure it seems all cute and innocent, but it sneaks up on you. The line between extreme merriment, quick humour and wit and rambling, slurring and making a dick of yourself is usually pretty thin.
As is the case with an all day drinking session (and a heart breaking extra time grand final loss) the line of douchedom is usually stumbled over in the short span of one or two drinks and a piss break.
It amazes me how one drink can tip you over the edge of self control and be the difference between having a hang over full of good memories or apologies.
The ability to know when to call it quits is still something I'm yet to master...
In the meantime though, here's an innocuous graph.........

DnB
Damn the man that got me into Drum and Bass
It's a whole other world, one where I can spend hours (usually late at night after a night out) listening to tunes, following the creators, listening to a dozen mixes of the same song to see what the DJ has done with it, and love every minute of it. Hook line and sinker..........
Also, why are chicks at drum and bass shows so hot????????????
A few of my current faves (will change in a few weeks I'm sure) :
Sub Focus - Follow The Light - I also love him for his samples of one of my favourites - Zero 7
Mike Snow - Black And Blue (Netsky Remix)
Shock One - Polygon ( Dirty Phonics Remix) - Perth boy
Moving Fusion - Black Belt
Eric Prydz - Niton (Metrik Remix)
Metrik - Anthem 09
Tony Anthem, Axl Ender, Erb n Dub - Move Down

Boom!
Total Life Forever - Foals
I was just listening to one of the BBC's 'Essential Mixes' with Pendulum taking the reins. I love these essential mixes, especially the drum and bass sets. Triple J do a few here as well (Shock One being a sexy sexy example) but the BBC can simply grab the larger European dj's due to vicinity....
I can still listen to them though so I'm happy...
About 20 minutes into their set, Pendulum slowed it down for a bit and played a sample of 'Total Life Forever' by Foals.
You know those songs that just always get you pumped, happy and excited every time?? That's this song for me. I remember listening to this album on the bus on my way to work. Total Life Forever would always come on just as I got off and started walking the ten minutes to the shop and I must have looked like quite the dickhead singing and shuffling along the whole way. You don't care though, because you're just in THAT good of a mood.
I realised that those are my favourite times during the day. I am happiest listening to my tunes on the bus, train or plane to somewhere. Walking and taking in the scenery. I like the journey much more than I like the arrival.
I guess this is a form of procrastination, that would explain why it's taken me nearly a decade before I am even close to starting uni.
Is it wrong to be anxious about reaching the destination?? What if you get there and you miss the events opportunities, freedoms and general hopefulness that comes with the journey itself???? Right now I have so many options and choices, the term 'world is your oyster' really seems to fit. I'm slightly scared of being unhappy again when I get there. What if the oyster I end up with doesn't have pearl in it?
It's thoughts like this that make me want to stop worrying about the future and concentrate on right now, and right now I have a massive smile on my face listening to Foals...........

BACK!!
Well it's been a while. The last time this blog was up it was negativity central, so now it's time to get back on track, be positive and look forward......
I'm not sure exactly sure how blogs are supposed to be done, but I'll be coming here whenever I'm bored, travelling (which will be soon), think of something funny or interesting to say, feel like writing or generally just have something that's been on my mind.
I can't imagine it being very interesting to anyone other than myself, but hey, what's a waste of a few mega bites of internetz???
Time to ride this wave as far as it goes and see what mischief we can get up to along the way.....
